University of Law
Elevating Student Wellbeing with AI-Powered Support
The Challenge
As one of the largest providers of legal education in the UK, the University of Law (ULaw) needed a comprehensive digital solution to support their diverse student body. ULaw wanted to provide students with immediate access to well-being resources, personalised support, and a platform that integrated seamlessly with their existing student services. With multiple campuses, each serving unique student populations, ULaw also needed a solution that could be configured and personalised for individual campus needs, ensuring relevant support for all students.
The Solution
In 2020, ULaw partnered with us to implement the ULaw Wellbeing app, a digital platform designed to provide students with 24/7 access to mental health resources, well-being tools, and personalised well-being plans. One of the standout features of this app is the ability to customise the experience for each of ULaw’s campuses. This ensures that students at each location have access to information and resources specific to their campus, making the app a key source of support for all students.
Key Features:
Customisation for Each Campus: Each of ULaw’s campuses have individualised configurations that tailor content and support services to each specific location.
AI-Powered Wellbeing Assistant: The app uses generative AI to answer student queries and provide support in real-time, helping students manage stress, build healthy habits, and access mental health resources around the clock.
Seamless Integration with Student Services: ULaw has embedded the app deeply into their student services system, making it a primary source for students seeking well-being and academic support information.
Working in Partnership
Our partnership with ULaw has been a collaborative effort from the start. We worked closely with the university to ensure the app met the specific needs of their student body. Over time, our relationship has evolved into a long-term partnership, with ULaw recently extending the contract until 2029. The app is now a cornerstone of their student support strategy, helping to handle low-level queries and providing real-time support, which frees up staff to focus on more complex cases.
Impact
Since its launch, the ULaw Wellbeing app has seen significant engagement, with over 30% of ULaw’s student population registered and actively using the platform. Students report that the personalised content and 24/7 accessibility have been key to helping them manage their mental health and well-being.
Next Steps
We are now working in partnership with ULaw to extend the app’s functionality even further. By incorporating AI-driven responses to cover all student services and the wider student experience, we aim to continue enhancing the support ULaw provides to its students, ensuring they can access the help they need, whenever they need it. This partnership continues to grow and evolve, driven by a shared goal of delivering innovative, student-centred solutions.
Keith Houghton, Head of Student Support and Wellbeing:
“I am delighted that we are continuing our work with StudentXP.ai to deliver the ULaw Wellbeing app as an integral part of our wellbeing offer – allowing students to access vital wellbeing resources any time day or night. I am particularly excited to investigate further how we can work with StudentXP.ai and their AI technology to further enhance the support we can provide to our diverse cohort of students.”
